College Admissions Advising
Do You Know Where You’re Going When It Comes to College?
If the answer is no, then you might be the ideal client for my college admissions advising services.
One of my “superpowers” is list building and research, and this is the most important part of your college search.
Not every advisor enjoys doing it, but I do. If you’re unsure where you’re headed, I’ll take the time to understand what you hope to find in a “good college,” then build a list of schools that align with your goals, values, and expectations. Every college educates its students differently; some offer more opportunities, flexibility, or support than others.
At the start, I always ask my clients: Are you seeking scholarships, or aiming for selective admissions?
If cost is a concern, my goal is to make sure your best academic and social fits are also your best financial fits. Many “good colleges” that provide what you’re looking for aren’t necessarily the ones that reject most applicants, and that’s good news.
I believe in having more than one “first choice.”
Too often, I see lists overloaded with reach schools which is often a recipe for disappointment. I understand the power of a “dream school,” but what if you could build a list of colleges that offer the same opportunities, even if your dream school says no? My job is to help you find them; then prepare you to visit, explore, and ask the right questions.
Another one of my “superpowers” is essay coaching.
With few exceptions, most schools require at least one essay, often chosen from the Common Application prompts. More competitive colleges, or those offering exceptional scholarships and honors programs, typically ask for additional essays. I’ll help you develop essays that are authentic, engaging, and strategic. Essays that truly help your application stand out.
